You can capture the audio output from your Casio and record it on your computer. There's a year-end deal for $29: http:/ / powertracks.htm That's a program that understands MIDI data and lets you add, subtract, or change notes and voices.
Or, if you need to change to USB, buy this Yamaha UX16 adapter for $40:Įither way, you'll now be able to transmit MIDI data back and forth from the keyboard to the computer. Those cables will go to an adapter cable supplied with your Live card, which then plugs into the 'game' port on the Dell. So, if you have the Live card, do this: get 2 MIDI cables to attach to the Casio, one for in the other for out. If you don't have that kind of upgrade, you'll have to get a converter to change the MIDI on the Casio into a USB input for the Dell. The difference is that the Live card can take MIDI cables in and out, just like your Casio. Or it might have an upgrade, like a SoundBlaster Live card. The Dell might have the standard, integrated sound system.
There's two ways to go, but that depends on what you've got on your Dell. You've got some figuring out to do about running the MIDI signals into your computer. Not a bad keyboard to learn the ropes on.
